Be Relentless In The Face of Challenges

Be Relentless

Well. It happened folks. I slipped up and missed a delivery date. I had committed to myself that I would hit every Sunday. But then a week came up when I was going away. The week got away from me. And I somehow convinced myself I would plug away at it a little beat each night during the weekend.

(Narrator voice: That didn’t happen.)

I have to admit. My first instinct was to pack it in. and just shoot for next week. What’s one week? Everyone would understand.

And it’s true. I’m sure everyone would. But, one week could turn into two down the road. I can’t have that. Missing Sunday was a delay; a mere hiccup in the delivery schedule. I couldn’t let it be more than that.

That’s how it has to be folks. You’re never going to execute every plan to perfection. Something is BOUND to go wrong. That’s inevitable. All you can do is face those trials head-on, overcome them, and move on to the next thing.

You need to be relentless in your quest for success. If you do that, then it will be inevitable.

Something to Think About

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.”

Vine Lombardi

This Week’s Main Quest

Setting long-term goals is a precursor to success. I’m sure everyone reading this has done goal-setting exercises before, but this week I want everyone to do something different.

Find three long-term goals for your business and then identify one blocker for each of them. A blocker is something that is standing in the way. It could be a skill you don’t have, a project you haven’t completed, or even something as simple as a phone call you need to make.

Once you have identified those blockers, I want you to identify 2-3 steps you are going to take to clear them. Then I want you to take those steps (What? Did you think I was going to let you get away with it that easily? 😀)

The trick here is that identifying blockers and taking steps to clear them gives you more direct control over your situation than only focusing on the long-term objectives.

This Week’s Side Quest

Your sidequest this week involves trying out another digital tool!

This week I want everyone to give Trello a shot! Trello is a digital project management tool that you can use on either a PC or a mobile device.

You use Trello to create Boards and then you can create, essentially, digital notecards on those boards to serve as reminders for tasks. This is a great way to keep track of individual tasks related to big projects like events or reports.

This video is a 5-minute demo of how Trello works. Give it a watch and see if this looks like a tool for you! I use it for all of my major projects and I love it. I’m sure some of you will also.

Something to Remember

You get a chance to take a step closer to your dreams every day. The key is to just keep taking one small step after the other. That relentless energy will carry you where you need to go.
